understand that "some" of the players expressed that sentiment, but I also believe that some of it was performative too or I am just a cynic.

I think football players are aware of risk of serious injuries (I know this is different) and can usually bounce back and be ready to get on the field pretty quickly.

I think the Chiefs players were back and ready to go pretty quickly after their teammate; Javon Belcher murdered and then shot himself in their parking lot.
