Cook was injured. Probably told that he wasn't going to damage it any worse than it was by continuing to play and it was more a case of pain tolerance and discomfort. Address it in offseason when you have time to recover to fix it long term. Coaching staff felt that Cook, at his available capacity, was better than the alternatives. Why is that so hard for folks to grasp?
