From the other article it looks like he started in June and by October only made it to Philly?.
That's like 5 miles a day, probably less
It is actually 276 miles in 140 or so days but if you include riding side streets maybe it is near double so 4 miles per day
Not sure what kind of seat hold 500+ lbs but the smell would probably penetrate an iron seat
