I found one in the wall in our basement bathroom

after we had a leak and the carpet in my office got soaked over Christmas one year.

Pipe had cracked at the clean out just as if it had been scored. So SOME of the water from the kitchen sink, dishwasher and bathroom was leaking into the wall.

Plumber friend helped me locate it with his moisture meter and found the area with the wettest sheet rock. Clean out and broken pipe were in the wall.

I took out the bottom 2' of sheet rock in that area and sprayed everything with black mold killer.

Pipe had broken just above the clean out junction as cleanly as if it had been cut on purpose.
