He somehow believes this makes him look cultured and accepting. It really makes him look lost and desperate for meaning in his empty life. I respect anyone with deep held beliefs even when I do not personally share them. I do not respect those that dabble in other beliefs as a form of virtue signaling.
If you are suggesting that religion is a belief in moral superiority you are wrong. I respect any religion that shares those beliefs with those willing to hear them. I do not respect those that try to force them on others. Abolitions against abortion is not a purely religious belief. Morals and religion are not one and the same. One can be moral and against abortion and have no religious beliefs at all.
