The fact is it’s not. it’s a different AD first of all so comparing is pointless.
Odom had poor recruiting so it felt like the talent was dropping instead of improving.
The fans had given up on Odom. Towards the end of his time the stands were getting more and more empty. Attendance has actually been increasing this season.
At the end of the day the extension doesn’t mean much beyond a talking point anyway. You can still make a change or not at any point.
In 2018 Odom was extended for 6 years. Then fired a year later
