It's pretty simple. Drink is a fraud. I loved the hire at the time, and still did after year one. Last year was discouraging even with solid recruiting but you could still see a path forward. Even though his playcalling took a major step backwards. This year settling on Brady was a major red flag from the get go. Seems like a nice guy but he's a classic back up QB. KSU was a huge game that would determine his trajectory for the rest of his Mizzou tenure imo and the team didn't show up to compete. Sure, we've had some coulda, woulda, shoulda type games this year but every bad team, with poor leadership, creates those types of situations. I guess he could turn it around these last 5 games but it feels more like 1-4 is headed our way. 2-3 at best.
The QB ultimately will determine the coaches fate at a school like Mizzou. And, it's unfathomable to think an "offensive" minded guy hooked his fortunes to Bazelak followed by Cook. That tells you all you need to know. Horn or Gabarri Johnson aren't going to ready to save this guys job. And, at that point it's already year FOUR. It shouldn't take that long for an offensive recruiting wizz to find a competent QB. For me, the only thing that could earn a fourth year is if Horn plays pretty much the rest of the way and shows that he can be the guy to lead this team next year. Doesn't even have to equate to wins necessarily. Just show he's got some juice to make sh*t happen.
