With the support of superintendents from all 14 school districts and other education leaders that educate Kansas City students, all schools, public, private, charter and parochial, will close no later than Wednesday and remain closed until the end of the emergency notice.
“Our superintendents appreciated the Mayor’s leadership and agreed with him that this was a difficult decision in light of the problems this will create for children and families in our community, but the districts acted together in order to try to save lives,” Southwick said.
