think someone who broke down your fence and you thought maybe they were armed would give you carte blanche to kill them both even if you were right.

If he said they shot at him first & he returned fire he would obviously be in the clear.

Of course, you may be right anyway. I'm just not sure how they would typically handle a situation like that.
