to classify as amateur, but if there was an impermissionable benefit, they were deemed ineligible.

It was even stated the value of a full scholarship with room and board exceeded 100K, yet they were "amateurs", which is BS.

It worked fine for both parties until two things happened.

The Universities (and private businesses) started using their names, images, etc. to get income from and the huge mega tv contract that made the pie a huge amount, and the players wanted a piece of that bigger pie.
