will undoubtedly mean spending a ton more later. Either via necessary direct action by the U.S. military when Putin doesn't stop with Ukraine and, emboldened, decides to keep the invasion train going to other former Soviet satellites and/or NATO allies

AND/OR

When markets freak out because of the instability caused by all of this and we have to bail people out because America can no longer endure any financial pain anymore. And that's regardless of who's in office.

So to me, it's not only the right thing to do, but the fiscally responsible and smart thing to do. And, to boot, it's definitively getting results on the battlefield.
