said that was the most economical way to go over the life span of the cars.

But since then the price of batteries and EVs have come down so I'm not sure if that is still the case.

Eliminating thousands of mechanical parts should clearly reduce maintenance costs and inconvenience if the batteries become as consistently reliable as they claim.
