more and more likely that in fact, the FBI was only looking for classified documents that Trump had unlawfully retained. This is astonishing, if true. It's like trying to get rid of your cockroaches with a 500 pound bomb.
If Garland ends up indicting Trump only for violations of the Records Act, the raid and the indictment will end up being the stupidest blunder by a US Atty. General in history.
One of two things was set in action Monday night. Either it marked the beginning of the end for Trump, or it marked the moment when his prospects for re-election in 2024 became far more realistic.
That would be unfortunate for the country, as he is probably the only viable GOP candidate that Biden could defeat. And perhaps, that was the plan Monday night all along--try to ensure that he'll be nominated in order to give Joe a fighting chance.
