A brother-in-law works at Ameren. He said that Illinois has been shutting down their nuclear plant and coal plants and pushing renewables. He said they've warned their legislators that the electricity generated fluctuates a lot with the renewables and that they are facing rolling blackouts and much higher prices. They don't care.
I have a sister in southern Illinois who said they've received notice that prices are going to be doubling and they need to prepare for rolling blackouts.
