Doesn’t matter. When they marched on the Capitol most of them didn’t intend to break into it either. But they did it anyway, because things tend to get out of hand when you follow a mob.

And I have no doubt that a non-trivial number of the Capitol trespassers broke in with the intent of doing bodily harm to whatever government officials they could find.

When people tell you they’re going to do something, it’s best to take them at their word.
