since unemployment rate was the same, would suggest that 400K came into the job market as well (which I think would increase participation rate).

Given that more and more people are self employed now (so would be considered out of the job market), it is a much tougher judge overall.

We are not seeing mass layoffs that we would usually see at this point in a recession, especially on the retail side, which seems to be taking the biggest hit overall.

Just general observations, not trying to blame or credit any politician.
