I said below I am against the notion of government intervention with businesses. While that is typically the case, and winners and losers should be decided by the market, where we find ourselves now is not a case of the market making losers of anyone. In this case, the government is closing businesses for a reason that is not of the businesses' doing. And for that, the government should have a role in making right this wrong. Measured and responsible role, but this is not the market speaking. This is government declaring businesses must close.
Some would say two wrongs don't make a right. I would say it immoral for government to forbid a business from operating because of things that business cannot possibly control and then to sit back and do nothing as those businesses close. They do owe a duty here to help. And anyone who would not support that is, in my book, acting wrongly.
