Peak oil had been reached . The first peak oil where we had pumped out half of the easily cheaply pumped oil had been topped. It would take 31 years before we pumped out so much oil again. And that was because of the much more expensive shale. Today the price of gas is 4.92 and in the next year, or maybe three, We will never again pump out as much oil as we are currently peaking towards.
Even if you are completely oblivious to the terrible
results of climate change, (costs of 145 billion a year and rising) any one with a lick of sense
can see that calling for policies to drill even more are
not only shortsighted but completely counterproductive.
And so we get the policies we deserve. Not me of course, but we.
