Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida and Kentucky are all in the drivers seat, needing just one win today to advance to a super regional.

Arkansas is facing Oregon, who they beat yesterday. I won’t pick against Arky again, they are cruising. When they advance they will play the super regional at home next weekend against either Texas or Washington.

Same with Florida, pitching and hitting well at the same time. They will take on the winner of the Georgia Tech-Wisconsin game that got pushed to today by bad weather. They should advance easily, to take on either Kentucky or Virginia Tech.

Same with Tennessee, playing well, they have a rematch with a good Oregon St team who has whipped 2 seed Ohio St twice now to get to today. Tennessee beat Oregon St 3-0 yesterday on a 2 hit shutout by their ace Ashley Rogers. The only question today is does Tennessee go with their talented #2 Edmoundson in the first game, saving Rogers for a second game if needed? Or just go with Rogers and try to finish off the Beavers in the first game. Either way I think Tennessee will advance to a super regional with either Stanford or Alabama.

Kentucky is in the catbird seat but faces the toughest task of any of these 4 SEC teams, just by the nature of their opponent, #3 national seed Virginia Tech, plus playing on the road. UK can hit the crap out of the ball when they are on, and their pitching shut down VTs hitters yesterday after one bad pitch in the first inning. The question is can they get to VTs AA pitcher Rochard today, who they will face in the first game. If this goes to a deciding game 2, I don’t know what kind of stamina Rochard has, is she the kind of pitcher that can throw two complete games in a few hours and be effective?

This is one to watch today, looking forward to it. If Kentucky can find a way to win one more game, they will be going to Gainsville for a super regional against SEC rival Florida next weekend, most likely.
