2 teams eliminated, Auburn and LSU. 10 teams left: 4 of them are 2-0 and are in great shape, just need one win today to advance, while 6 of them are behind the 8 ball and need to win 2 games today to advance. More on those 10 teams later.
Auburn has nothing to be ashamed of, they played great this weekend. Beat a good ULL team on Friday, lost a heartbreaker to 10 seed host Clemson 1-0 yesterday, then lost a rematch with ULL by one run last night. That’s the team that finished 10 in the conference, one swing away from beating national 10 seed Clemson. And the #12 team in the SEC, TAMU, barely lost to Oklahoma yesterday 3-2. The depth in this conference is just crazy.
LSU is another story. Not profiles in courage. They didn’t show up this weekend. Got whipped by a good San Diego St team, then went down meekly to Loyola Marymount 3-2 yesterday. Didn’t win a game all weekend.
