but has he ever really constructed a roster with enough talent to say "that team clearly underachieved"?

I guess the 2020-2021 team because of how they finished but there they still made the tournament and spent time in the top 10. I'm not sure if there are any other examples?

When I think "bad coaching" I think of a couple of Quin's years. The 2001-2002 and 2003-2004 teams were ranked in the top 5 to start the season. One team missed the tournament entirely, the other was a 12 seed.
