I seem to find myself pro choice for the most part.
From what I've read the basis of Roe v Wade doesn't seem to pass muster. I don't understand how it is a due process issue when states make laws that make all sorts of things criminal behavior and there's due process in the courts.
All that said, I generally don't like the government telling me what I can and cannot do. I wonder: is it the role of the federal government to protect me from any state law that is more restrictive than federal law? Or is it a problem of that particular state's legislature being accountable to its voters?
I also wonder: if Democrats are so adamant about this, why doesn't Congress just go ahead and pass a law stating that abortion is legal (with certain limitations, or not) in the US? They have bicameral majority and the presidency.
I also think that the Democrats effectively saying that the Supreme Court "abolished" abortion is not quite the truth.
Further, the fear tactics being used by the Left "The GOP is coming for xyz next!" is not level headed and pragmatic.
Is there room for someone who is pro-choice and skeptical about Roe v Wade?
