From my perspective, there's really only one potentially religious aspect to it, the 1st premise in the syllogism below.

A. It is always evil to intentionally kill an innocent human being.

B. Abortion is always the intentional killing of an innocent human being.

C. Abortion is always evil.

But even most liberals will accept that premise. Unfortunately, a growing number seem to be rejecting it now, however.
