to boost viewership in next year's show. Prior to this event, there was talk about the Awards being moved off network TV due to abysmally poor ratings and put it on a streaming service.
In real life, I doubt Rock would have taken the slap without some sort of retaliation or a stronger comment to Smith.
Rock grew up in a tough neighborhood and Smith grew up in a middle class neighborhood, attending private schools until high school.
