University of Missouri Basketball Coach Quin Snyder will be part of CBS' coverage of the NCAA Men's Basketball Sweet 16, it was announced today by the MU Basketball Office. Snyder will join Greg Gumbel and Clark Kellogg in the CBS Studios starting on Thursday evening for the prime-time coverage of the first four games and will remain in the studio through Sunday's contests.
"CBS does a masterful job of covering this great event and it's a true honor to be a part of that," Snyder said. "I am looking forward to this opportunity and also to some great games this weekend."
One of the top young coaches in college basketball, Snyder has led Mizzou to an 84-49 mark in his four years at Mizzou and has averaged 21 wins per season during that time. Snyder has led Mizzou to the NCAA Tournament in every year of his tenure and the Tigers have advanced as far as the Elite Eight in 2002.
Under his tutelage, the Tigers have won three straight first round games in the NCAA Tournament, marking the first time in school history that has occurred. The Tigers also made a valiant run at history this season in the Big 12 Tournament, winning each of their first three contests of the tourney. Mizzou had a chance to become the first squad to win the Big 12 Tourney playing in every round (four straight days), but came up just short against Oklahoma, 49-47 despite coming back from a 22-point deficit.
