What is the administration thinking
when they make a hire like this????
I ask, as someone who grew up in the shadow of the columns...It appears that the school now is in the hands of people who only care about making the PC choice. We cant be accused of hiring a coach who has any sense of dirt on him. WE have to hire a person who is a "leader of men" and that is what the first quote about him is about. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?? Other schools in the conference have hired "tainted" coaches or are planning to...other schools are now ranked #1 during the season or plan on hiring a coach who has won and has a past that is not ideal...but we got to get a coach who first and foremost is a "leader of men" what are we doing hiring a coach or a boy scout leader???? I truly wish Gates the best if he is indeed hired here but this alleged hire instills no confidence in me nor likely many others. yep we hired a minorty coach who is a leader of men and has not scintilla of scandal in the past and is cheap, so the people who are only concerned with looking good and making the "right" hire will be happy and will then go on to reading Proust and attending cricket matches but the fans of the program who in the past have live and died now have to hope and pray that we got lucky and the hire will work out. Its mind boggling.
