I had a similar thought.

I think Gates is a similar type. Young, viewed nationally as a rising star. Won at a place that is hard to win. Kim will probably eventually win at Mason, but Gates has been a head coach longer and won the conference twice already.

In the end with Kimmie, it probably fails but it feels like everyone would understand why you took the shot. Gates is probably a bit safer in that respect, but I don't see him energizing the fan base until they start winning.
