Putin does not want to fight NATO or the US. This has gotten out of hand and he knows it. But he really hasn't given up on we will force a new pro Russian government yet.
If we get the new weapon systems in and take out more aircraft, and other hardware units he may be ready to declare a win and go. I just don't see Ukraine accepting his current terms.
