discourage reasonable discussion, especially when things get busy.
Active threads don't bounce back up to the top as is the case with much other forum software. As time goes on and new threads are added a thread, such as this one, will start dropping further and further down the page & then onto page 2 & so on. People just don't see the discussion for very long at times.
That tends to encourage short, pithy answers, insults, etc.
It is unfortunate. This board used to have the threads go up to the top with each new post, keeping active discussions going. But that went away with a software update some years ago.
