The 5 Best and 5 Worst Places to Take a Sh*t in Columbia
It happens to the best of us, mother nature calls at a very inopportune time and in an even more inopportune place. At some point, we have all felt the need to drop a deuce while out a a bar. Not all bars are created equal, so here is a comprehensive list of the five best and five worst bars for one to take care of their most unenjoyable business.
\*DISCLAIMER: These are only men's bathrooms that I am reviewing. I have yet to use a woman's bathroom and probably never will.
BEST:
Honorable Mentions - iTap, The Roof, Pressed, Shiloh, and 9th Street
5. The Heidelberg - I am sure there are plenty of people who will say that Heidelberg doesn't actually count as a bar in the traditional sense, but it is one of the most common places for people to start their nights out on the town. Their bathroom is far away from much of the action, it has a very roomy stall, and the bathroom is rarely destroyed.
4. Logboat - Logboat is definitely on the fringe of downtown, but the overall aesthetic of the building is pretty cool. This design extends to the bathroom, and although it is relatively small, the sh\*t taking experience is borderline luxury with the wood paneling on the walls. So order that heavy stout you want to try, there is a great place twenty feet from the bar to handle the aftermath.
3. On The Rocks - On The Rocks is not the biggest bar on the Broadway Strip. Surprisingly, they have sacrificed a lot of space for the men's bathroom. The multiple roomy stalls make it a great place to get over a loose stool. Plus, with this bar rarely being packed like the Field House dancefloor (don't worry, we'll discuss them later) it is rare that the bathroom is left in a disgusting state.
2. Trops - Like Heidelberg, some purists will argue that Trops is not a bar. It is never a place where I have spent a majority of my night out, and I go there once in a blue moon between October and April. However, Trops sports a nice men's bathroom year round with a huge stall fit with ample toilet paper and cool diamond print metal walls. So next time you feel a rumbling in your stomach downtown, convince your friends to give Trops a go.
1. Silverball - Silverball is a fun bar. Silverball has a lot of stuff to do. Silverball has a roomy bathroom with multiple stalls. There is not much more you could ask for in a sh\*tting experience. Plus, if you don't want your friends to know that you are taking a sh\*t, it is easy to explain a long absence from your group at Silverball by saying you are going to play games. When you need to take a sh\*t, stop by Silverball. You'll be glad you did.

Honorable Mentions: Broadway Brewing Co, Booche's, and Understudy
5. The Social Room - Look, I like Social Room as a bar. There is a dancefloor if you want to let loose, and a whole other area for the drink at a table vibe. BUT, there has never been a fun night at social room where there hasn't been a massive lone for their unjustifiably small bathrooms where you will be greeted with a small toilet that will probably be littered with urine stains.
4. Eastside Tavern - Eastside is a quirky bar that you are probably only going to for a novelty event like karaoke or stand-up shows. Their bathroom has some real potential. It's fairly intimate, and hidden from the hustle and bustle. However, their fatal flaw is that it has no lock. That is all I should have to say. In fact, it is.
3. Willies/Field House/Bullwinkles - I don't really know if these are considered three different bars or one large conglomerate, and it doesn't really matter for the purposes of this study. Their bathrooms are horrible. The dancefloor bathroom is probably the best, but it is a battle just to get in there. The one silver lining is that if you use the main bathroom before 8:00 or so, it isn't half bad to sh\*t in, but it is a rapid decline from there.
2. Harpo's - Harpo's is a Mizzou staple. Multiple levels for multiple vibes. If you go with a group, it is a fun spot and you can easily spend your whole night there. However, their bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. It usually takes little more than an hour for a roll of toilet paper, beer bottle, or shoe to end up in the lone toilet bowl on the main floor. In some sick way, the 10 Below bathroom is sometimes their best option, and that is saying something.
1. Nash Vegas - I don't even like peeing at Nash. I have never seen their bathroom in a state that could pass a health inspection, and I probably never will. The fact that the toilet and urinal are in the same room just provides for a traumatizing experience for anyone who needs to take a sh\*t there. I have never seen, or even heard of someone taking a sh\*t there, and hopefully I never will. Just go next door to Jimmy John's or Pickleman's. It is worth whatever the cover is.
So, the next time you need to take a sh\*t, consult this list for the best experience and say thank you... to Mister X!
