They have no natural energy supply. why do you think that the strongest industrial country in Europe was the worlds leader in synthetic fuel? why do you think that that England voted to deny Russias membership to the EU? The US lobbied hard against Russia's membership into the EU. I remember an Article in the Economist in 1995 (I think) that russia had the potential to have the largest GNP In Europe by 2030 if they are allowed to have access in markets and have the right countries to investment. germany read the same article.
