Historically, the party out of power gains, but historically country was not two years from a failed coup by the sitting and defeated president.

There was a poll and this should be take with a wheelbarrow full of salt that showed voters 44-34 preferred Democrats in coming election. First off, many do claim they want X party in charge but will stay with their guy in charge regardless of party. And way early to view polls - but it MAY be the case that the distaste for the stench of Trump carries over to '22. We will see.
