for example, writing "white" and "colored" over a fountain is NOT remotely racist by any definition. But calling it racist has now created another senseless and useless big deal, when it isn't. It does not show the writer think either race is inherently inferior - the REAL meaning of the word and it has a place in the language. Or used to.
Actually, using either of the other two words that nearly always should be used, bigoted or prejudiced, would not today be understood by our ignorant population.
