People have reasons behind their beliefs

beliefs are based on those reasons...change the reasons and the beliefs likely change as well.
When people know the reasons will likely change their beliefs, they stick to reasons in a very unnatural way...you do this all the time.
You have full belief that our current government structure works, and you cling to those reasons very hard...because if the reasons fall, your belief will fall.
I was the same way as a liberal. I was under the belief that we just needed the right people in government and it would work great. Finally, it took a lot of evidence, and actually opening my mind to people like ummm, pickle, and others..and those reasons fell apart..so did my belief.
