At first people were scared and demanding gov't to do "something". They were begging for mandates and lockdowns. Personal choice and freedom was seen as selfish and not caring about the greater good/public health. So democrats thrived.

Now the masses are over it and the mandates. So it's having the opposite effect on democrats. Suddenly the mandates magically disappear.
