on the Plaza the news media attempted to cover it up by not reporting on it. Social media wasn't nearly as prominent as it is now but the story broke on talk radio. Once it went viral, the lamestream media knew they couldn't ignore reporting on the problem.
The best thing that could have happened was the mayor headed to his car from a restaurant when gunfire erupted across the street and a 13-year old was hit. An unattended 13-year old.
But calling it to anyone's attention is racist.
The mayor and the police chief moved quickly to establish and enforce a curfew.
