Putin rightly fears NATO eastward expansion so he has been targeting Ukraine to be both the buffer to the west and a way to regain Soviet dominance over a Cold War era partner state

The people of Ukraine don’t want to go back to 1950. The West will support Zelensky with material and will hit Moscow hard on sanctions and I agree Biden will not send significant number of troops unless Putin starts to threaten a nato country
