in the recent past when i started a new thread on a topic i was asked why i started a new thread to further discuss something in an existing thread.

I got a nice lecture for that, too.

Like i said i feel really really REALLY bad about authoring a post that did not directly address the op in the thread.

Are there any written rules on this? I hate being the only person on this board who has ever stepped over the line (in your opinion) and offered a comment without direct and undeniable connection to the op.
