starting premise for explanations for events. Alex Jones is a conspiracy theorist, for example, because his operating assumption is that most everything is a well-crafted conspiracy.

Most events are not conspiracies, and most things that people attribute to flawless and massive coordination are more easily explained by circumstance, chance, and some level of incompetence.
