Most ominously, the govt's centrally established bank has been targeting interest rates for several decades.

It causes way more economic disruption than the suggestion in your OP.


And WADR those who say that government has always done this, miss the point.


I don't support new price controls. Just correcting your misunderstanding that "it won't be long before" the govt "will attempt to control prices". This has been happening for over a century. You really need to reorient your premises.
