Kerry was not drafted, he enlisted. He did not lie to get out, he was "swiftboated" by Roger Stone who spread the lie you referred to. Check out comments from his former comrade in arms as to his bravery. Once out, he became a strong advocate against the war and testified to Congress as such. (there were many who served in VN with with the noblest of intentions, but became disenchanted with the war when they saw what was going on one the ground). Viet Nam is the only was where we never lost a battle, but lost the war.
