First, Alden reportedly did not hit it off with Stewart and decided shortly after taking the AD job that Stewart had to go.
Following the season, issues arose regarding the eligibility of a transfer (I don't recall the exact facts). Alden wanted Stewart to stay in Columbia to help resolve the issues and Norm went to his second home in Palm Springs. The net result was Mizzou ended up looking for a new coach.
Laurie was a big supporter of the team and Stewart until Norm's final season when he disagreed with Stewart's handling of Keyon Dooling, etc.
Neither Laurie nor Kronke played a significant role in Alden pushing Stewart out. However, they were big players in the subsequent decision to hire Snyder.
