(1) if it is more infectious
(2) if it causes severe illness and/or mortality
(3) if it effects younger populations
(4) if it is susceptible to antibodies generated by natural infection or vaccination
(5) if it is susceptible to monoclonal antibodies
we know it is has more mutations in the spike protein (the epitope for antibodies) than prior versions, it has been found in younger people in South Africa, and it is already present outside southern Africa
Give it about 2 weeks to learn more about it. Meanwhile, continue to take precautions in case it does turn out to be more problematic.
