revolutionizing industry in the 19th and 20th century compared to what is happening now.
The education and skill level between the engineer who designs and the tech who maintains an ordering kiosk at McDonald's far exceeds the person who types orders into a cash register.
Lower skilled jobs tend to overwhelmingly be populated by people with lower IQs. Those jobs are being automated away. Not everyone has the cognitive abilities to be a software developer.
That cashier whose job is gone loses the ability to work up to assistant manager then manager. The entry level position is gone.
As the workforce is reduced, the need for management is reduced, moving the problem even further up the chain.
In IT, entry tech support jobs are disappearing. AI is being implemented more and more as front line support for customers. The human positions who act currently as second line support require more experience and skill. Yet the opportunities to gain skills and experience to move up are disappearing.
Walk around in a store late at night in the past two years? Chances are you have seen robotic floor cleaners, reducing janitorial work.
One of the largest career fields for men is truck drivers. What do you think will happen to all those jobs as self driving vehicles come on line?
