Real wages have been stagnant since about 1981, except for a small increase in the late 90s. Employees have a market advantage for the first time in decades, and they are taking advantage of it.

Inflation is almost all reflected in energy prices, which have risen since oil was negative dollars a barrel last year. Those prices are still lower than they were in August 2008, and that's nominal prices, not adjusted upward for inflation.
