Likely the most devastating impact of the Trump term was his selling the idea that facts and the truth no longer matter, that there are no consequences to a practice of telling bald-face lies. I love this country and I remember Nixon, Gary Hart and others. Wasn't it Nixon's people who made a big deal of his "mis-speaking himself"? It was a HUGE issue if US leaders lied. Now Trump sets it up that there are no facts, no independent truth - there is only pursuit of self-interest. Here is a link.
