My people are Americans, obviously he has influence and purposefully damages them in that context. Trump is not pretending, he actually is that stupid and incompetent and that is the best he can do. I think it is completely misleading to say that Carlson is equivalently stupid and actually believes the things he says and isn't trying to purposeful target and incite the stupidest among us and profit off of their ignorance.
There isn't an equivalency to be made to Carlson. He is only attempting to target and incite viewers he knows are easy to manipulate for the purposes of harm and misinformation. There is no other premise behind it at all. Almost all of the current problems that exist in our country derive back to purposeful attempts to misinform and incite specific gullible and lower intelligence subsets of our population over a number of years that have built towards the situation that Carlson now exploits to the fullest fashion. I just don't buy it at all that he is actually as stupid as he tries to portray himself.
