hurt the team's record for at least the next 4 years? and if it hurt recruiting for 2 or 3 years, that would have extended a little further, no?

and if the team is doing as well, doesn't that hurt recruiting in subsequent years?

It seems like there can be a ripple effect... hopefully diminishing over time.
