celebrate mediocrity or pretend that it is something other than mediocrity.
Quin was an attempt at a home run hire that missed. At the time everyone thought he was a good hire.
Mike Anderson was a successful mid-major coach with a strong resume. Again a good hire.
Haith was a questionable hire who averaged 25 wins per season and won a B12 title. Another decent hire.
Kim was a true son who had worked in the program for years and was very successful at the DII level. He was an attempt to recapture Norm's legacy. I never liked the hire but understood the attempt.
CM was a coach with an entirely mediocre record with zero history of success. Yes, I disliked the hire and believe that opinion to be justified.
Of the hires Kim was hands down the worst with CM a close second. The only way anyone can claim CM is successful is to only compare him to Kim and ignore the rest of the programs history.
Here is how I would rank the hires based on what we thought we knew at the time.
1. Quin
2 MA
3 CM
4 KA
5 FH
I hindsight here is where I would rank them.
1 MA
2. FH
3 QS
4 CM
5 KA
