This is exactly how I expected it to go, with one caveat:

I expected the progressives to roll over by now and give Manchin his pet small corporate infrastructure bill, and the reconciliation bill to be in the wind. I still think this is what will happen, but I'm surprised and pleased the progressives have held out so long
